Renfrew Mayor Don Eady is frustrated with the delay in hearing how much is in Ontario’s coffers for the Province’s municipalities this year. He says there’s been no discussion with Queen’s Park on the matter. The Renfrew Mayor is worried that the Town may be losing a big chunk of change, should the Ontario Municipal Partnership, or OMPF funding be slashed.
Eady says a letter suggesting possible reduced funding has been received from Ontario’s Finance Minister, Vic Fideli. Fideli, himself a former Mayor of North Bay, says he knows this will delay municipal budget preparations somewhat, but the task at hand is still to get a handle on the Province’s fiscal position, and a line-by-line review takes time.
