The town of Eganville has deep Olympic roots. On Friday, Canadian curling world champion and Olympian, Rachel Homan, paid a visit to the Eganville Curling Club. Homan’s late grandfather was the president of the club and she curled there in her youth. Homan encourages everyone to get out and try the sport saying you never know where it can take you.
She adds summer Olympian Melissa Bishop messaged her after finding out she was in Eganville. Homan says most small communities across the country have a club and curling is a great way to bring people together. Homan played an end of curling with some locals, donated her Team Canada jersey to the club and sponsored 4 rocks in memory of her late grandfather.
