Plans are already in the works for a second curling funspiel in support of Hospice Renfrew, after myFM’s Jamie Cybulski hosted the first-ever such event on Saturday December 29th. Fourteen teams gathered at the Renfrew Curling Club and had a great day on and off the ice, raising over $2100 for Hospice Renfrew. There were obstacles and twists with every end played, and a big shout out goes to to Shane Lambert at the Horton Community Centre for loan of the pylons that made it all possible. The winning team consisted of Marg Dawson, Ann Windle, Sue Beaton and Larry Beaton. Hats off to Ben Oakes at the Renfrew Curling Club for his role in a very successful day.
Next year, the event will have an appropriate name. It will be known as the Lee McVeigh-Sharpe Memorial Curling Bonspiel in support of Hospice Renfrew.
