With plans to get more work done on the Algonquin Trail this year, some are asking what it would take to complete the trail from Lanark County to Petawawa. During this week’s Property and Development Committee at the county level, committee learned that the cost to complete grading, brushing, decking and stone dusting the trail is $1.5 million. Manager of Forestry and G-I-S, Jason Davis explains where things stand now.
The committee sets aside $140,000 annually for maintenance and upgrades. It will eventually be up to county council to either look into finding the extra money or simply stay the course and complete the trail in sections.
