With the arrival of consistently nice weather, you’ll see more and more construction projects popping up. The Upper Ottawa Valley OPP want to remind motorists about the importance of construction zone safety. When approaching a construction zone, you must obey all warning signs, people and/or devices that are directing traffic and it’s an offence under the Highway Traffic Act to disobey a stop or slow sign displayed by a traffic-control person. Police are also reminding drivers that speed fines are doubled in construction zones when workers are present and that lower speeds keep workers safer. Motorists can find information on construction projects across the province by calling 5-1-1 or visiting www.ontario.ca/511.
