With two days to go before nominations close, it looks like voters in Pontiac Riding will have a full slate of candidates from which to choose. Elections for the Quebec National Assembly are taking place October 1st. There will be a candidate forum in Campbell’s Bay this evening (September 13th), beginning at 6:30PM. It is hosted by the Chamber of Commerce and takes place at the RA Centre, 2 Second Road in Campbell’s Bay. Invitations have been sent to seven candidates; Roger Fleury of the Green Party of Québec, incumbent Liberal André Fortin, Samuel Gendron of the NPD-Q, Olive Kamanyana, the nominee for Coalition avenir Québec (CAQ), Marie-Claire Nivolon of the PQ, Kenny Roy, Conservative, and Julia Wilkie of Quebec Solidaire. The Elections Quebec website lists an eight candidate for the Marxist-Leninist Party, Louis Lang. The CAQ continues to lead in voter preference across Quebec, but polls show both it and the governing Liberal have been slipping since the election was called.
