Police are investigating after a local legion was broken into. President of the Chalk River Legion – Branch 562, Harry Thompson, says someone stole a loader and used it to smash in the front doors and steal an ATM. Thompson says the incident happened around 2:00 am on Sunday morning, the day before Remembrance Day. He adds police think three to four people are involved and they also broke into the dump down the road.
The Chalk River Legion President says they’re still waiting for the insurance company to give them an estimate on total damages. Thompson says they had a good turnout at the Remembrance Day ceremonies today, but had to put plywood up on the front doors.
