Many areas throughout Canada are beginning to get rid of the bi-annual time changes, including the Northwestern part of Ontario. However, us down here in the valley, will continue to do so, for now.
Early morning Sunday, November 1st at 2 a.m., clocks will roll back an hour, marking the end of daylight saving time.
What this means is sunrise and sunset will happen one hour earlier, bringing brighter mornings and darker evenings.
Part of the province, more specifically the part within the central time zone, has already gotten rid of the change to align with Manitoba, making it easier for businesses operating across the provincial border.
The rest of Ontario will need to wait on both the Province of Québec and New York State to adapt the permanent removal of daylight saving time.
The Ontario Time Amendment Act of 2020, passed on November 30th of 2020, requires both jurisdictions to be in the process of making the change before the eastern standard time part of Ontario can make the change.
This is to reduce any confusion of trade between Ontario, Québec and New York, as the three usually deal with more than $156 billion dollars annually.
