Hunters from across the region will gather in the coming days as Gourley’s Outdoors’ annual Big Buck and Doe Contest gets underway next week.
With over $8,000 in prizes to be won over the next few weeks, Owner and Operator Keith Gourley says there is never any hesitation for sponsors, hunters, or the greater community to support what has become an undeniably popular event.
Last year, more than 1,700 participants helped raise $20,000 for Hospice Renfrew through proceeds from the contest. However, the event also features plenty of opportunities for the community to show a little love to other important community interests.
Gourley adds that favourable summer conditions have left an abundance of food in the bush, which could make for a particularly strong year for the contest.
Registration closes this Sunday, November 1, with the contest running from November 2 to 15 during gun season.
More information is available on the Gourley’s Outdoors Facebook page.
