A local animal rescue says their winter plans are focused on one simple goal: that no cat should go hungry or cold this winter.
The Renfrew-based CARE Animal Rescue has begun supplying cat food to the Renfrew Food Bank, where their volunteers have been stocking the shelves every Tuesday to help cover what has become a giant need for canned food and kibble.
CARE is also ready to provide food to caregivers of feral cat colonies in the Calabogie area as colder weather sets in.
Both programs follow another successful Neuter Scooter collaboration with the Ontario SPCA and Humane Society’s Renfrew County Branch, which sent 40 cats from Renfrew and the surrounding area to affordable spay/neuter clinics outside the Ottawa Valley to help local pet owners curb pet overpopulation.
The rescue thanks the public for their continued support, noting that every donation helps keep these programs running and supports cats and people in the community.
Donations can be made online through Canada Helps, PayPal, or by money transfer. Cash donations are also accepted at Rick’s Pet Stores in Renfrew, Arnprior, Pembroke, and Petawawa, as well as the Renfrew Pet Valu.
CARE also encourages anyone interested in their programs to reach out by email to learn more.
