Scott Miller says it’s time to ditch “council knows best” and put community engagement first as he runs for council in Renfrew.
A business owner with deep local roots, Miller views the election as an opportunity to provide the town with a boost during a difficult time, and he believes he has the time and experience to make his contributions count for residents.
Miller is running on a campaign to bring fiscal discipline to the town, prioritizing preventative infrastructure maintenance, dedicated funding to long-term renewal, making risk-based investments, limiting borrowing to major assets, and supporting sustainable housing and business growth.
He also pledges to champion regular town hall meetings, budgets written in plain language, and trust in genuine public consolation to ensure residents are heard on major decisions during the process and not after.
Miller is also keen to see an end to political infighting that he believes has hampered efforts inside council chambers, calling for a unified, professional leadership that keeps sessions focused on evidence-based debate and constructive problem solving that will be important with Strong Mayor Powers on the table.
Scott Miller is one of ten candidates running for six at-large council seats in Renfrew, alongside Hayley Heaslip, John McDonald, Kate Windle, Kyle Cybulski, Sandi Heins, Guy Longtin, Clint McWhirter, Andrew Dick, and Bruce Rozycki.
