Renfrew’s farewell to summer continues throughout the weekend as the Renfrew Fair opened its gates to visitors on Thursday, September 10.
Visitors got a taste of the excitement in store for them on opening day, which was highlighted by a high-horsepower truck and tractor pull, with even more thrills in store on-stage, along the midway, and at the Armouries building.
It’s all thanks to months of hard work behind the scenes, according to Administrative Coordinator Judy Dobec.
Some of the can’t-miss events still to come at the fair’s 171st offering include a fiery duo act taking over the Grandstand tonight alongside musical acts The Ghost Town Criers and Tragically Hip tribute Little Bones.
Then, on Saturday, even more pulse-pounding action thanks to the fair’s famous demolition derby, as well as an afternoon of magic and agricultural wonders on display and for sale, followed by The Timberline and headliners Nate Haller capping off the evening.
And while Sunday will wrap with Whiskey Sour and a tribute to Anne Murray on stage, Dobec is particularly excited the horse pulls that will make up most of the fair’s final day.
Guests can enjoy all of that, plus all the sights and sounds of the midway, food vendors, and live entertainment spread out across the fairgrounds until the gates close Sunday at 5:00 pm.
