Several road and bridge projects are scheduled to begin or continue across Renfrew County this month, with motorists being warned to expect lane restrictions, traffic control and some road closures.
The County of Renfrew says construction on County Road 9, also known as Bulger Road, between Agnew Road and McGaghran Road began Sept. 8 and will continue into mid-to-late October. The road will be reduced to a single lane in sections, with traffic lights or workers directing motorists.
Work on County Road 70, or Ruby Road, between Wolfe Road and Zadow Road, also began Sept. 8 and will continue until late October. Single-lane restrictions will be in place during construction.
Several culvert projects are also planned. Work on the Olsheski Creek Culvert on Stanley Olsheski Road in Madawaska Valley is expected to begin in early October and finish by mid-October. The McPhee Road Culvert on McPhees Bay Road is expected to be replaced beginning in mid-September, with work continuing into October. Both projects will involve single-lane traffic.
Meanwhile, construction continues on several county roads and bridges.
Work on Witt Road in Laurentian Valley, between Woito Station Road and Doran Road, is expected to wrap up in early September. Raglan Street South in Renfrew remains reduced to one lane while crews complete work associated with a culvert replacement.
Construction on Calabogie Road between Fleming Road and Burnstown Road is expected to continue until late October, with single-lane traffic in sections.
Several bridge projects are also affecting traffic.
The Danny Constant Bridge on Constant Lake Road in Bonnechere Valley and the O’Grady Bridge on O’Grady Settlement Road in Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards remain closed, with signed detours in place. Neither location has pedestrian access during construction.
The Waba Creek Bridge on White Lake Road is expected to be completed by mid-September. Its detour has been removed, but traffic will remain limited to one lane for the rest of the project.
At the Turcotte Bridge on Code Road in Laurentian Valley, the detour has also been removed, with single-lane traffic remaining until construction is completed in late September.
Work on the Broomes Creek Culvert and Dam on Foresters Falls Road is nearing completion. The detour was removed Sept. 1, and traffic will be reduced to one lane for the remainder of the project.
The county says several projects have recently been completed, including work on River Road and Castleford Road in Horton, Doran Road in Laurentian Valley, and Chenaux Road in Whitewater Region. Line painting remains to be completed on Doran and Chenaux roads.
The county is reminding motorists to use extra caution when travelling through construction zones.
