The Renfrew County Road Supervisors Association has crowned a new “Roadeo Champ.”
Renfrew’s Cole Eady claimed top spot in the RCRSA’s Safety Truck Roadeo, which challenged 35 of the best municipal vehicle operators from 17 local municipalities in Renfrew for the first time on Thursday, September 3.
Association President Chris Mantha says their morning at the myFM Centre gave competitors the opportunity to learn on-and-off the obstacle course they were tasked with navigating.
Skills shown during the event will be especially crucial as municipal truck and plow operators prepare for the winter, where they will need to blend their ability behind the wheel with the ongoing technological advancements under the hood to keep roads safe for the public in adverse conditions.
The event was another moment in what has been a busy year for the RCRSA and its members, as they not only brought the Roadeo back to the region after sharing the event with their Lanark County counterparts in 2025 but also played host to the Association of Ontario Road Supervisors annual trade show.
Meanwhile, Eady will join the local competition’s second-place finisher, the City of Ottawa’s Marc Groulx, to represent the RCRSA at the AORS Provincial Truck Road in Owen Sound on September 23.
