All Hands on Deck Food Drive brings Renfrew, Eganville, and Shawville communities together to fight hunger

96.1 myFM’s All Hands on Deck Food Drive was bigger and better than ever, supporting three food banks across the Ottawa Valley on Thursday, August 20.

Residents in Renfrew, Shawville, and Eganville combined to donate food, cash, and other essentials, with proceeds in each community supporting the Renfrew and District Food Bank, Bouffe Pontiac, and Eganville Food Bank, respectively.

Renfrew Food Bank President Mike Wright says the annual event ensures they can provide for families and individuals during a hectic back-to-school season.

It’s a day that also showcases the generosity found across the Ottawa Valley and MRC Pontiac region.

While favourites like cereal, peanut butter, pasta, and canned goods go a long way to keep pantries stocked across a community, Wright says it’s hygiene products and other items that people wouldn’t normally associate with the food bank that really make a difference for their clients.

The final totals of cash and food raised for all three food banks will be released soon.
