An important moment for reflection and remembrance in Arnprior will not go as planned this weekend.
Officials with the Arnprior-Braeside-McNab Seniors at Home Program has announced that their annual memorial butterfly release will not run as planned this Sunday, August 16, due to what they say is “an unfortunate incident involving [their] butterfly provider.”
The cancellation comes as a disappointment for the group, who add that the event, which allows people coping with loss the chance to symbolically let go of their grief, is a meaningful moment for the community.
The program is hopeful that they will be able to bring the event back next year.
Renfrew and Area Seniors Home Support’s planned butterfly release ceremony is still expected to run inside Renfrew’s O’Brien Park on August 30.
