Daily life at Northcote’s Beedew Farms has changed quite a bit for the Briscoe family.
Since the hay day of their bee keeping operation, which saw as many as 300 to 500 colonies on the farm, Joe Briscoe says they have had to downsize due to parasites and other factors, expanding into a small dairy and crop operation along the 500 acres that they are now looking to expand.
Briscoe continues to work with his father and his five kids, who range from their mid-teens to early adulthood. They are getting the opportunity to learn on the job, make mistakes, and take on more responsibility as they enter as Joe has begun the his first steps towards passing the torch onto the next generation.
Beedew honey is still available directly from the farm, and occasionally at Northcote Community Centre vendors events.
