Town staff in Renfrew are assuring residents that communications regarding the replacement of outdated water meters throughout town are legitimate.
Around 1,400 water meters are set to be upgraded by technicians with Neptune Technology Group. Some households may have already received letters or been contacted in other ways to schedule an appointment for the installation.
The new meters are expected to provide more accurate billing and improved water usage tracking, as well as earlier leak detection and support future upgrades to the system.
While the work is legitimate, the town reminds residents that the company involved will never ask for payment for the upgrade.
