People across the Ottawa Valley will be seeking relief as the heat and humidity turns up to dangerous levels over the next few days.
With daytime highs expected to reach into the low 40’s with the humidex this week, the town of Renfrew has set up three cooling areas and water refill stations within the community:
- Renfrew Library: Open Monday, Wednesday and Friday 9AM – 5PM; and, Tuesday and Thursday from 10AM – 8PM
- myFM Centre: Open 7AM – 10PM daily
- Golden Age Activity Centre: Open 10AM – 3 PM daily
Canada Day festivities in Renfrew will also be affected by the heat, with the town moving several activities and attractions either inside the myFM Centre or closer to the building ahead of Wednesday’s celebration.
Town staff are encouraging residents to stay hydrated and check in on family, friends, and neighbours who may be vulnerable to extreme heat.
