Canada Day in Arnprior is a work in progress due to a change in the Environment Canada forecast for our National Day.
An official release from the Town of Arnprior notes: “the Town is relocating the Canada Day events planned for the Hydro Park East to the Nick Smith Centre at 77 James Street.”
Initially, the plan was to export the traditional Robert Simpson Park events to Hydro Park East on the opposite bank of the Madawaska River due to renovations occurring at RSP.
Given that Environment Canada anticipates oppressive heat and possibly attendant thunderstorms which may accompany the extreme temperatures, the Recreation Department has pivoted in the interest of everyone enjoying a safe holiday.
Canada Day in Arnprior begins with a pancake breakfast provided by the Lion’s Club from 8-11AM.
Valley Flea will be held at the Arnprior Museum (35 Madawaska Street) from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm.
There is still great afternoon of live music, family fun, and delicious food and drink to be had!
From Noon to 5PM at the NSC, check out the live music, games and bouncy activities, get your face painted and hit the cool ice for hourly free skating on Bert Hall Arena ice surface.
To help you get from place to place, the Town has provided a shuttle bus running from 11AM to 5PM. The shuttle operates on a 20 minute cycle, and its stops are as follows: The Nick Smith Centre at 77 James Street; Pacific Safety Products, 124 Fourth Avenue; the Arnprior Museum, 35 Madawaska Street; Robert Simpson Park, 400 John Street North; the Galilee Centre, 394 John Street North and the Corner of Bell and Madawaska Streets.
The Optimist Club Optimist Bobby Legault Bike Parade will go as planned with registration starting at 10:30am, judging at 11:00am and leaving the parking lot of Pacific Safety Products (124 Fourth Avenue) at 11:30am. The parade finishes at Hydro Park East.
The Galilee Strawberry Social will be held at the Galilee Centre (398 John Street North) from 1:00-4:00 pm.
The Rotary Duck Race will see the ducks dropped off the Madawaska Bridge at 2:00 pm.
The Annual Fireworks are planned to be displayed off the island by the weir at dusk, roughly 9:45 pm. Your best viewpoint is Hydro Park East, 100 Madawaska Boulevard.
The Town of Arnprior thanks the performers, vendors, service providers and staff for their flexibility and accommodations to ensure this much-anticipated annual event can take place.
