The Ontario Provincial Police had a presence at Thursday’s MTO Open House at the Murray Yantha Community Centre.
Acting Staff Sargeant Greg Streng is serving as Acting Operations Manager with the Renfrew OPP Detachment.
He says the intensity of some of the collisions police are seeing on the two lane portion of Highway 17 can be a source of trepidation for officers.
Streng says in a perfect world money would be no object- but spending it is not up to him.
He says OPP can share their data with government- but their role in affecting driver behaviour is their primary focus.
The contours and characteristic of roads are a matter for the engineers- police have hands on responsibilty for safety
