Renfrew Legion Branch 148 used this past weekend to remember the past as they look to secure their future.
Legion members held their annual D-Day Commemoration Ceremony at the Low Square Cenotaph outside town hall on Saturday, June 6, honouring the operations that set the stage for the Allied victory on the Western Front and those who fought for our freedom 82 years ago.
Branch president Greg Walbeck was in attendance and is hopeful that being visible in the community will help attract new volunteers, an issue that is being felt across legion halls across Canada.
He says the need for more volunteers is especially important this year, as the Legion celebrates its 100th anniversary later this month.
If you’re interested in volunteering or in future events, reach out via email, phone, or the Legion’s Facebook page.
