Local first responders will trade in their cruisers for carts later this month for another round of raising funds for a worthy cause.
The Renfrew OPP’s 911 Swing for a Cause returns to the Renfrew Golf Club on June 19, and the local detachment’s community outreach officer, Constable Tina Hunt, says planning is well underway for the fourth edition of an event that has raised thousands of dollars for local charities each year since it debuted in 2023.
While past tournaments have helped food banks in both Renfrew and Arnprior keep pantries full across both communities, Hunt has revealed that this year’s event is focused on supporting local youth.
The day has also become a touchstone for officers to connect with the public in a relaxed environment and give the community a chance to meet the people behind the badges.
Registration for the four-person scramble is $135 per person, with a light lunch being served that morning at 11:00 am before a shotgun start at 1:00 pm. Register on the Renfrew Golf Club website.
