Renfrew mayoral hopeful Andrew Dick has decided not to run.
A current member of town council, Andrew recently announced that he would not enter the Mayor’s race despite intending to officially declare this week, instead turning his focus to caring for his mental and physical health after discoveries that would detract from his ability to govern.
He is also addressing anonymous social media comments that he believes dredged up his past to make false accusations about his character.
Andrew calls the choice to drop out a sad one, as he had hoped to continue advocating for a new hotel, more local doctors, a plan to help ease the town’s tax burdens, and more open and transparent governance.
While he wishes the next council luck going forward, he urges them put residents first.
Among other self-owned business ventures in the Renfrew area, Andrew Dick is an employee of My Broadcasting Corporation, which owns this station.
