A trio of issues was on the plate at the McNab-Braeside Planning Meeting preceding Township Council the morning of May 5th.
Deputy Mayor Scott Brum had to keep the ship on even keel, as residents of Nieman (Nye-man) Drive dealt with twenty-six years of frustration over the condition of the gravel portion of what might better be termed a “passage-way”, while coming together to oppose a planned five-plex residential development at its cul-de-sac.
While condition of the roadway was a two-fold concern, residents believe the road should not be the only thing standing in the way of the proposed development.
That’s resident Sabrina Nash.
Consensus of the residents? Development or not, the road needs to be fixed. Deputy Mayor Scott Brum agrees.
Brum agrees further development at the end of the Nieman Drive would compound the problem.
He finds some comfort that the Upper Tier considered development in the same location several years ago.
The final piece of the puzzle? The development’s proponent is the Chief Building Official for McNab-Braeside.
That matter is addressed by Mayor Lori Hoddinott.
For the moment, the ball is in the County of Renfrew’s court.
