Renfrew County’s Department of Public Works and Engineering says several road construction projects will begin or continue across the region this spring and summer, with motorists advised to expect lane reductions, temporary closures and detours.
The county released its monthly construction update outlining work planned on a number of county roads in 2026.
Among the upcoming projects is work on County Road 66, also known as Wilno South Road, in the townships of Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards and Madawaska Valley. Construction between Highway 60 and Inukshuk Road is scheduled to begin May 11 and continue until mid-July.
County officials say portions of the road will be reduced to a single lane during construction, with traffic controlled by signals or flaggers. Temporary road closures will also be required at certain stages of the project.
Construction is also slated to begin May 19 on County Road 68, or Rockingham Road, in the Township of Brudenell, Lyndoch and Raglan. The work will take place between Guiney Road and Letterkenny Road and is expected to wrap up in late June. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in affected areas.
Several projects already underway are carry-over work from the 2025 construction season.
On County Road 4, known as Storyland Road, in Horton Township, construction between Eady Road and Alex Lane is expected to begin in mid-to-late May and finish in early June.
Work on County Road 69, or Siberia Road, in Madawaska Valley began May 4 and is expected to continue until early July. The project covers the stretch between Sunny Hill Road and Pipedream Lane.
Construction on County Road 71, also called Matawatchan Road, in Greater Madawaska resumed May 4 and is expected to be completed during the week of May 11. The project extends from about 700 metres east of Milty Lake Road to County Road 65, also known as Centennial Lake Road.
Meanwhile, brushing operations along County Road 508, or Calabogie Road, between Fleming Road and County Road 52, Burnstown Road, began April 27 and are expected to continue until mid-May.
The county says culvert replacement work along the same corridor is expected to begin in early June and continue until early July. Some sections of the road will be fully closed with detours in place, while other sections will be reduced to one lane. Additional rehabilitation work is scheduled from mid-August until late October.
Construction on County Road 512, or Foymount Road, in Bonnechere Valley is also expected to resume in mid-to-late May. The project between Silver Lake Road and Highway 41 is expected to be completed by mid-June.
The county also said work has resumed on the Broomes Creek Culvert and Dam project on County Road 7, or Foresters Falls Road, in Whitewater Region.
The site, located about 0.1 kilometres east of Foresters Falls, will remain closed to traffic until the project is completed in early August. A signed detour using Kohlsmith Road and Queens Line is in place, and no pedestrian access will be permitted during construction.
County officials are urging drivers to use caution when travelling through construction zones.
More information on the county’s 2026 construction plans is available through the county’s online construction story map and on Municipal511 for traffic updates.
