The Town of Renfrew will be hosting a few works days focused on the Bonnechere River Trail (BTR) to install improvements based on community feedback.
The BTR has been open for a year now and based on feedback the town wants to cut brush, place mulch, re-grade switchbacks, install natural steps and install a picnic table.
There are three works days currently scheduled: Thursday May 7, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Thursday May 28, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and Sunday June 7th, from 11:00 a.m. to 2 p.m. with lunch provided on the June work day.
No registration is required, anyone can just drop into the work days, but the work days may be canceled or re-scheduled if weather conditions are deemed to be dangerous (excluding light rain).
“The trail has a moderate difficulty rating, with sections of steep hills and uneven terrain, please wear appropriate footwear,” the Town said.
They also highlighted some items to bring:
- Sturdy closed toed shoes/boots and Long pants
- Long sleeves and a hat/sunscreen are recommended
- Bug spray/ bug gear, with some extra from the town
- Drinking Water
- Tools such as shovels, hoes, rakes, pruners, pails and the town will have some to spare
