Police are warning the public about an increase in thefts from vehicles in the Arnprior area. According to Renfrew OPP, officers have responded to multiple reports of vehicles being entered recently and items stolen. In many of these incidents, the vehicles were left unlocked, making them easy targets. Police ask you to take simple precautions to reduce the risk of becoming a victim. First and foremost, lock your vehicle, even when parked in your driveway. Remove or secure garage door openers and spare keys and ensure your car windows and sunroofs are fully closed. Do not leave valuables such as wallets, loose change or electronics in plain view in your vehicle. Police add that if you see someone checking vehicle door handles or acting suspiciously, do not approach them, but call the police immediately.
