The Renfrew Public Library’s Jail and Bail fundraiser has declared which fugitives will go behind bars in early May.
Hayley Heaslip, the library board’s acting chairperson, has released a series of wanted posters in the build-up to the event on Saturday, May 9th, with preparations already underway to make the day as fun as possible for those dropping by the library to help make each of the prisoners make their $300 bail.
The fundraiser will be a fun and visible way for the community to support the library and connect to a vital resource that actively serves over 4,000 patrons with more than just a quiet place to read.
Heaslip says the response she’s received from residents has been amazing, including people offering to stand guard at the cells or join in as prisoners themselves.
That feedback has given her high hopes for the day, as replacing the missing tech is just one item on a massive list of needs the library board continues to tackle.
Prisoners, including myFM reporter Kasey Egan, will be in holding inside the library’s program room from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm that afternoon. Donations can be made in-person at the event or by e-transfer.
Community members can also contribute to a collection being accepted ahead of the event inside the myFM office on the second floor of the myFM Centre.
