It’s all fun and games this weekend as the Renfrew Skating Club goes all-out for their season-ending ice show.
Head coach Katie Skerkowski says the myFM Centre ice pad will be transformed for Games Night this Saturday, April 11th, as the club takes the audience on an immersive showcase through some of the world’s most iconic board and arcade games.
Everyone at the club, from the cast to their prop maker, has been hard at work preparing their routines for the past two months despite a lot of their skaters taking part in a gruelling competitive schedule, but Skerkowski says all that effort is beginning to pay off as the final preparations are being made.
This year’s performance is expected to build on the success of last year’s storybook-themed show, offering the audience an enthralling series of shorter, interconnected routines that will give the 125 youth and adult skaters from all skill levels taking part a chance to show off their talent and a little personality along the way.
The annual ice show is free to attend, but Skerkowski says donations would go a long way to helping cover rising administrative and ice time costs at a time when their members have shown amazing growth thanks to their supporters and sponsors.
Fans can enjoy the Games Night ice show at one of two shows this Saturday, either 1:00 or 4:00 pm, where they can also take part in a raffle and a 50/50 draw. Flowers for after the performance will also be on sale.
