At last month’s Milano-Cortina Olympics one of the colour stories of Canadian coverage was the 50th Anniversary commemorations of skater Toller Cranston’s bronze medal at Innsbruck Austria, February 12th of 1976.
But commemorations of the achievement continue in Toller’s old haunts, according to sister Phillippa Cranston Baran.
The Toller 50 Campaign’s agenda may see a proposed cross-Canada tour pushed into 2027.
Phillippa says not everything is skating-related, as her late brother was an accomplished artist who created in excess of 20 thousand works.
But don’t roll up the ice quite yet- as Skate Ontario is planning an initiative in May.
Toller Cranston spent much of his post-skating career at his Mexican villa- and that constituency hasn’t been neglected.
Phillippa says any career is never a solo effort- so those who aided her brother’s success are being recognized in this 50th Anniversary year.
