Next year’s action at the Bonnechere Cup will have far greater stakes than ever before.
Organizers for the Eganville-based snowmobile race have announced that they will join three other legendary North American tracks as part of the new Pro Champ 440 Championship series.
The unified championship will visit historic courses in Manitoba, Wisconsin, and Quebec, as well as Eganville, for a five-race tour starting this December that will feature a combined $100,000 USD purse that instantly makes it one of the richest and most prestigious competitions in ice oval snowmobile racing.
The Pro Champ 440 class is the premier division of the sport, ensuring fans experience elite-level competition, while the cross-border format is expected to intensify rivalries and elevate competition by drawing the strongest racers from both Canada and the United States.
Organizers say the tour gives competitors a clear championship pathway and fans a season-long storyline to follow while allowing the decades of history each event carries to shine.
More details, including the official points system and championship payout breakdown, are expected in the coming months.
