What’s Good in Renfrew? Merv’s Spring Fling at the Wing raises thousands – but is it the last one?

If that’s all from Merv’s Spring Fling, then what a way to wrap things up.

The third annual Spring Fling at the Renfrew Wing welcomed in hundreds of friends from across Renfrew and the surrounding area for an evening of music and mingling on Saturday, March 7th.

Organizer Merv Warren is thankful for the continued support shown for raising money for good causes in the community, as the $5,500 and counting collected that night will be split evenly between Valley Animal Rescue and the Robbie Dean Centre.

The evening was made perfect by the headlining duo of local act Ryerson Warren and Vancouver’s Austin T. O’Keefe, who performed alongside each other for the first time ever during the Fabulous Cash for a Cause show’s tribute to the legendary Johnny Cash.

O’Keefe was thrilled with getting such a warm reception from the Renfrew crowd as he and Warren joked that they’re in for another Spring Fling next year should it happen.

Merv had suggested that this year’s party would be the final edition of the Spring Fling, noting that he didn’t want to wear out his welcome with the community. However, he didn’t close the door on it entirely when asked that evening.

He would add that the best part of hosting the event has simply been the chance to see everyone having a great time.
