It may not feel like it, but Winter Carnival season in the Ottawa Valley has one more stop left on the schedule.
The Horton Winter Carnival returns this Saturday, March 7th, which township Community Liaison Officer Rachel Eden says will offer residents and guests a chance to get together for a full day of smiles and laughter in and around their Community Centre on Castleford Road, starting with the enticing aroma of its famous $10 Shanty Breakfast.
While a mild forecast might affect Carnival’s plans to use Horton’s outdoor rink for a family skate and some stick and puck time, there will still be a chance to explore outdoors with the horse-drawn sleigh rides, as well as plenty of excitement indoors headlined by a meet and greet with Rumi from K-Pop Demon Hunters, the Mad Science Fire and Ice show, and a giant static ball perfect for some funny photo ops.
Eden says the day is all about allowing the community to leave their worries to the side for a while and enjoy some effortless fun.
She is also encouraging people to spend a few hours volunteering with some easy jobs like managing activities or just generally helping the event run smoothly, noting that all ages and skill sets are welcome and that taking part can be an incredibly rewarding experience.
All of the activities at the Horton Winter Carnival outside the morning’s Shanty Breakfast are free.
