Multiple Ottawa Valley communities are receiving provincial funding for accessibility projects.
The province has announced a $2 million funding allocation through its Enhancing Access to Spaces for Everyone (EASE) grant.
The funding is meant to help “build stronger, more resilient communities,” with over 40 initiatives across Ontario receiving funding.
Ottawa Valley beneficiaries include the City of Pembroke which received $57,935 to add a pair of accessible pathways to Waterfront Park, the Town of Deep River which received $57,935 to install an elevator in its arena, the Township of Horton which received $57,935 to add an accessibility ramp and concrete walkway to its outdoor rink, and the Township of McNab-Braeside which received $43,853 to upgrade the playground at Wellington Park with a slip-resistant rubber surface.
“We are creating communities where everyone can participate fully,” said Raymond Cho, Minister for Seniors and Accessibility. “Through the EASE Grant, our government is supporting innovative and impactful projects that will help create a more inclusive province for people in every corner of our province.”
