Earlier today (Feb. 3) the properties around Meadow St. in Cobden we reporting a decrease, or complete lack of, water pressure.
It’s confirmed by the Township of Whitewater Region that a leak sprung somewhere in Cobden’s water system, however, it is unclear what caused the exact issue.
Whitewater’s superintendent of environmental services, Deanna Nicholson, said the Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA) crews have isolated the leak area and are working to locate the break.
The OCWA conducts their “locate” process to identify subterranean obstacles such as gas lines and internet lines.
While an exact cause has not yet been determined, Nicholson said the winter months are particularly hard on water mains due to fluctuating temperatures.
