The Ottawa Valley’s top municipal leaders have had the attention of the province to kick off the week.
Councilors and staff from across Renfrew County are in attendance for this year’s Rural Ontario Municipal Association Conference in Toronto, gaining firsthand access to various provincial ministries to discuss community challenges, priorities, and opportunities.
Among the major talking points for Monday was an early morning talk where the Town of Renfrew got the first chance of the day to speak with Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing Rob Flack.
Later in the day, Renfrew, Arnprior, McNab/Braeside, Horton, Admaston/Bromley, Whitewater Region, and Greater Madawaska meet with Solicitor General Michael Kerzner to discuss rising policing costs for rural communities and the need for predictable funding solutions.
The ROMA Conference will wrap up at the end of Tuesday, Jan. 20.
