Cupcake Day in support of the Ontario SPCA and Humane Society is returning this winter, inviting residents to turn baking into fundraising for animals in need.
Heather Jobe, Community Development Coordinator for the Renfrew County branch of the Ontario SPCA, wants you to fire up your oven and put on your baker’s hat for this one:
The annual event officially takes place Monday, Feb. 23, though organizers are encouraging supporters to host activities throughout January and February. Participants can organize cupcake parties, bake sales, or other treat-themed gatherings to raise money for animal care at the Ontario SPCA and Humane Society Renfrew County Animal Centre.
As much as it’s fun to bake cupcakes, Heather reminds us that there is a bigger picture to be seen:
If you don’t care for the idea of baking cupcakes to raise funds, perhaps there are other ways that individuals and businesses can support the cause—and Jobe has some ideas for that too:
Supporters can register online to create a personal fundraising page, find baking ideas, and plan an event of any size, from small home gatherings to community bake sales.
