François Legault delivers his farewell at a press conference this morning
Earlier today the Quebec Premier, François Legault, announced he would not be participating in the next provincial election and will be resigning as leader of Coalition Avenir Québec (CAQ).
Legault has been Premier since 2018, and has been leader of the CAQ since 2011.
Despite throwing in the towel, Legault said he will remain as party leader and Premier until a replacement is selected.
The CAQ has less than a year to get in order as Quebec’s next election is this October.
On Facebook, Legault said “I would like to thank everyone who has joined me on this beautiful journey of creating a new party.”
In his social media statement Legault continued to push for French representation which he said is on a decline.
