A local woman has claimed the Week 16 prize in the St. Francis Valley Healthcare Foundation Catch the Ace lottery, taking home $1,026 after selecting the correct envelope in the weekly draw.
Valerie MacDonald chose Envelope No. 20, a number she had played consistently in reference to the expected Feb. 20 arrival of her first great-grandchild. The envelope revealed the Two of Clubs, securing the weekly prize.
MacDonald said she plans to share part of her winnings with family and support local health care by purchasing Catch the Ace tickets for each of her grandchildren. She is also setting aside some of the money for gifts for the newest member of her family.
Organizers say the estimated weekly prize for the next draw is $1,200, while the progressive jackpot has grown to $31,143. The jackpot will be awarded to the player who finds the Ace of Spades.
Tickets for the next draw can be purchased online until Wednesday, Jan. 14 at 11:59 p.m., or in person until approximately 1 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 15, at participating retailers throughout the region.
