Renfrew residents will need to get their documents in order if they want to avoid getting burned by fines the next time they light up a bonfire.
The Town of Renfrew says that anyone who plans to light a campfire or another style of recreational fire will need to renew their burn permits for 2026, with applications available through their online portal.
You won’t need a permit for your barbeque or a CSA-approved propane fireplace, but the town’s bylaws require the owners of setups like commercial, non-combustible containers or fire pits to get a permit for them or face multiple potential fines of $200 each.
Keep in mind that there may be fire bans during dry stretches of the year, and always follow the town’s advice on when and where to burn.
