Christmas Day is one of the busiest holidays of the year, and many local businesses will be taking a pause to mark the occasion.
Most grocery stores and retail outlets will be closed for the holiday, including Walmart, Chris and Tanya’s No Frills, Renfrew Metro, and Giant Tiger. Walmart is set to resume regular hours on Boxing Day Friday, while the other three stores will reopen that same day on adjusted hours.
In downtown Renfrew, both Rexall and Aikenhead’s Pharmacy will be closed on Christmas Day. The Beer Store and LCBO will also be closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day this year.
Municipal buildings and services, along with banks and post office locations, will largely be closed on Thursday.
The Town of Renfrew also reminds residents that garbage normally scheduled for Christmas Thursday will instead be collected on Saturday, December 27.
