Renfrew’s Gillan family is still hoping for a Christmas miracle for their son, Lucas, as he continues battling chronic kidney disease.
Months after first reaching out across the Ottawa Valley for a compatible kidney donor for the 17-year-old, the Gillans are once again putting the call out for people to get tested as they look for someone willing to share their spare.
Lucas’s doctor has pushed back the start of daily dialysis treatments until February while he finishes his school semester, but that only gives prospective donors with an A+ or compatible blood type until February to step up.
For more information about Lucas’ situation and whether or not you could be a candidate, contact the Ottawa Hospital Living Kidney Donor program at 613-738-8400 ext. 82719 or by email.
