Curious community members might have wondered why a small group of helpers could recently be found picking up along Renfrew’s Gillan Road.
As it turns out, that was members of Renfrew’s Freemasons performing what has become a habitual tidy-up of an important road into and out of Renfrew that they took on as part of their goal towards both self-improvement and helping others.
Lodge master Richard Dean explains.
Dean says the cleanup effort is just one of several projects within the community that you can find local masons participating in, whether it’s backing local events, meeting with the community, or rolling up their sleeves to keep other important historical sites with ties to Renfrew’s heritage.
Colder weather kept the Gillan Road cleaning crew just a few members strong this time around, but Dean says it’s not uncommon for some efforts to garner a lot of interest from lodge members looking to demonstrate courtesy for society and respect for one another.
The lodge welcomes you to join them at the Renfrew Legion on December 23rd, as they help operate routine blood donor clinics put on by Canadian Blood Services.
