Local farmer Angela Field has earned a clear mandate to lead the way for her peers in the agricultural sector.
After narrowly missing out on being elected to a three-year term as a Director-at-Large of the Ontario Federation of Agriculture on Wednesday, November 26th, Field would win a run-off vote for a one-year term thanks in part to her connected experiences as both an OFA member and Deputy Mayor of Admaston/Bromley.
Field, who campaigned on being a strong advocate for farmers in Northern and Eastern Ontario, chose to use her time ahead of the vote to call to the common ground shared by the hundreds of delegates in attendance, who make up 51 separate regional federations that support local farming across the province.
She would also point to her experience as past president and member representative of the Renfrew Federation of Agriculture, claiming her top-to-bottom knowledge of how the OFA operates as qualification to lead at the provincial level.
Field’s appointment has already earned congratulations from her local peers, including Admaston/Bromley Mayor Michael Donohue, who says agriculture across Ontario “will be incredibly well served by the same energy, passion, and incisiveness” she brings to their township.
