Yesterday (Nov. 25) Renfrew Wolves goaltender, Kale Osipenko, was named for Team Canada East in the 2025 World Junior A Challenge.
Osipenko and his teammates will compete with three other teams to put on the best of the best in regards to Jr. A hockey.
The other competitors are a Canada West team, Sweden and the United States.
For the first time in competition history the World Junior A Challenge will be hosted in Quebec.
More specifically it’s in Trois-Rivières from Dec. 7 until Dec. 13.
Osipenko was the 126th overall pick in the 2024 OHL priority selection by the Sarnia Sting.
Being adopted into his hometown pack in Renfrew Osipenko is putting up the numbers.
As of writing he’s made an appearance in nets 14 times this season with 32 goals allowed and 463 saves.
That equates to a 2.31 Goals Against Average and a total Save Percentage of 0.935.
On social media and on their website, Renfrew Wolves are congratulating Osipenko, saying “We’re thrilled to congratulate Kale for the 2025 World Junior A Challenge,”
“Kale’s dedication, work ethic, and high-impact play have been a driving force for the Wolves and now he’ll be representing Canada on the world stage,” they said.
Osipenko is the only hockey player of any position in this year’s competition who calls Renfrew home.
