The ongoing water main break in Pembroke has proven to be an inconvenience for many but for some residents of Pembroke it had the potential to be very serious.
The residents of Mirimichi Lodge have been without running water since the breakage occurred on Friday but thanks to the efforts of a handful of local departments and community members the over all effect to residents has been minimal.
Dean Quade, Acting Director of Long Term Care for The County of Renfrew says that as soon as the malfunction of the water main was discovered, the City and a handful of external partners had a water truck and pumps at the Lodge in no time flat making sure that the elderly residents could continue receiving the care they need during the emergency.
The City has been diligent in informing community members as to the progress of the issue and it looks like it could be up to two weeks of repair time need to bring the system back online fully. Quade is confident that they have all of the resources necessary to continue to properly care for their residents during that time:
Currently the water being pumped into the facility is not potable but thanks to certain community members and The City, drinking water is being provided to the until things get back to normal. For now, Quade is more than thankful:
We will continue to bring you all of the information regarding the water main situation as soon as it becomes available.
