One of Renfrew’s closest ties to Major Junior hockey has been let go by his club.
The Sarnia Sting have announced that Head Coach Alan Letang has been relieved of his duties effective immediately, citing the belief that a new voice is needed in the locker room to guide their young core and support development through the rest of the season.
In a statement, General Manager Dylan Seca thanks Letang for “his dedication, his work ethic, and the genuine commitment he showed to the Sarnia-Lambton community,” noting that his impact has been “meaningful and appreciated” by the club.
“Alan is a good person and a strong coach who represented our organization with class every day,” Seca adds. “This was not an easy decision, but we feel it is the right one for our group at this time. We thank Alan for everything he has done for the Sting and wish him the best going forward.”
Letang had been with the OHL club over the course of the past four seasons, most notably leading the team to a deep playoff run during their 41-win campaign in 2022-23 before missing the playoffs for the past two years.
