Renfrew Victoria Hospital is getting swept up by the success of their first-ever fundraising bonspiel.
The RVH Rocks Bonspiel saw 12 teams enter the ice shed at the Renfrew Curling Rink on Saturday, October 25th, all of whom pitched in for what hospital foundation Executive Director Patti Dillabough calls a massive need in one of their facility’s most important departments.
Dillabough says completely funding the new dialysis treatment chair is a fantastic result for what was her first experience hosting a curling event alongside Rink President Keith Moss, even if she was too busy to throw a few stones for herself.
Moss had claimed the goal for the event was to create a contemporary fundraiser that could run alongside the well-established RVH Golf Classic each year, and Dillabough is confident that Saturday’s event was just the first of many to come.
Dillabough congratulated the players and volunteers for making an impact at RVH following the event, adding patients from across the Ottawa Valley will benefit from their time on the ice.
