This weekend’s action at the myFM Centre will feature an extra splash of colour in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Kristina Lafrance, communications manager for the Renfrew Wolves, says Saturday’s Pink the Rink night will see the team raise funds in support of the Renfrew Victoria Hospital Foundation through limited-edition merch and their traditional auction of game-worn pink jerseys, which will open up to a whole new subsection of fans for the first time ever.
Fans are encouraged to show up in their pink apparel and get loud as the team squares off against the Carleton Place Canadians with the help of a few special guests from the community, who will provide the evening’s national anthem and ceremonial puck drop as part of what Lafrance says has become a growing tradition since the collaboration with RVH began a couple of years back.
Lafrance adds that the team has people who don’t have a lot of pink in their wardrobe covered, including a line of Pink the Rink commemorative shirts and some incredibly popular branded touques that have been flying off the merch rack.
She says the hope is to pack the myFM Centre’s main rink in pink this Saturday night as the team celebrates a night of community, courage, and compassion when the puck drops at 7:30 pm.
